There are many different food choices that you can make for your Standard Schnauzer. With a little bit of effort, fresh food can become a staple in the diet of the Standard Schnauzer. This can be a healthier and cheaper alternative to the commercial dog foods on the market today. Do not confuse fresh food with people food. There is a great difference and it will make a difference to your Standard Schnauzer.

Fresh foods can be included in the diet of your Standard Schnauzer, but it is not limited to fresh chicken and turkey and beef. Raw fresh vegetables and fruits can be included in the menu. The Standard Schnauzer actually likes these quite well. Oatmeal and other grains such as brown rice may be added. These are gentle on the stomach of your Standard Schnauzer. Additional protein sources may include yogurt, eggs and cottage cheese. There are many options and choices at your disposal. The fresh food doesn't need to be fancy, just palatable. Remember, what you consider palatable may be different from what you Standard Schnauzer considers palatable.

The foods that you serve your Standard Schnauzer should be fresh. Do not give your Standard Schnauzer other versions of these foods, thinking it is all the same. It is most definitely not the same and it could harm your beloved pet in many different ways. Prepared "people" food is not to be considered the same as fresh food. The Standard Schnauzer does not like or need any additives or preservatives in their diet. The addition of these items can make your Standard Schnauzer sick and have many digestive issues and problems.

You should use extreme care to stay away from corn and soybean additives. These byproduct additives are usually parts that we don't want to read or know about. Make sure you read the label! Your Standard Schnauzer is counting on you to protect him, as he cannot do this for himself. If you are not careful, your Standard Schnauzer will let you know that you have erred in his menu choices.

Excess scratching by your Standard Schnauzer may be a sign of food problems. Excessive gassiness may also be a sign of a problem with his diet. These are to be considered allergies to the foods you are feeding him. Remember, when your Standard Schnauzer is miserable, he will make everyone else around him miserable too! This will not promote harmony at home between you, your family and your Standard Schnauzer!

You may love your Standard Schnauzer, but don't preserve his insides with the preservatives often found in dry dog food. Be very careful with any food containing ethoxygum, BHT or BHA. These artificial preservatives can be harmful to your beloved Standard Schnauzer.

With a little time and effort, you can make the diet of your Standard Schnauzer very appealing and appetizing. It can be a more economical approach. It will definitely be healthier and more nutritional. Probably the most important of all, it will be safe!
