The smooth fox terrier is a dog that was once used as a hunting dog before it became a popular breed for dog shows. The smooth fox terrier has now made its way into peoples homes and has become an excellent family pet. These intelligent and active dogs make great companions for children as well as adults. Not only are they loyal, but also they are very energetic and full of life, and because of this the smooth fox terrier must be given the attention that it seeks.

The smooth fox terrier is by nature an attention seeker, it is the type of dog that is constantly seeking the approval and love from their owners. Therefore, if you have a smooth fox terrier you will want to make sure that you give them the attention they require. Because the smooth fox terrier is an intelligent and active dog you must make sure that they are exercised daily and included as part of the family. Smooth fox terriers can be very affectionate and playful dogs, however if they are neglected or ignored they can become very aggressive and annoying dogs. If the smooth fox terrier does not receive the attention that it constantly seeks and becomes deprived of human companionship, then the smooth fox terrier may start to display undesired behavior. They may start by chasing small animals, they will start to bark constantly as an attempt to get your attention, you will find that they will become bored and uninterested in things such as fetch. If the smooth fox terrier becomes bored then they will likely end up becoming destructive and start to chew things or dig holes as well as try to escape.

To avoid having your smooth fox terrier turn into a dog with undesirable behaviors, then you will need to focus on giving your smooth fox terrier the right type of attention. Because the smooth fox terrier is an attention seeker by nature, if you simply acknowledge that they are there they will respond to you. If you give them positive attention and love them unconditionally then your smooth fox terrier will respond with the same kind of love and affection. By taking out your smooth fox terrier on daily walks to the park or around the neighborhood you will start to build a relationship with your dog. Playing with your smooth fox terrier daily will also encourage positive attention seeking traits, you may find that they will respond by being very playful and often do silly things to get your attention, instead of chewing on furniture or destroying your home to get your attention. By doing a little everyday with your smooth fox terrier, you will be able to give them the attention that they seek and require to be the best companion for you and your family.
