Many times when people get dogs, such as the Manchester terriers, they are not quite sure what their needs are unless they previously owned one. However, once you get a Manchester terrier it does not take long to know what its needs are.
When you look at the needs of the Manchester terriers, a lot has to depend on what type of Manchester terrier it is (either a standard Manchester terrier or a toy Manchester terrier) or how it is raised, and what kind of environment it is in. However, usually all dogs will have the same type of needs or wants.
If you have a toy Manchester terrier, they are more likely to have more needs than that of the standard breed of Manchester terriers. The toy Manchester terriers are noted to need less exercise than the standard breed. In fact, the toy Manchester terrier usually gets enough exercise throughout the day as it runs or walks. Another need that the toy Manchester terrier has is that it requires being brushed or combed on a daily basis. Although they have such short hair, it is still required.
Another very important thing that must be taken into consideration before getting a toy Manchester terrier is that it is required that they live indoors, as their bodies can't handle the outdoor weather; especially during the winter months. One very important thing that must be taken seriously when owning a toy Manchester terrier is its food intake. In fact, the toy requires specific food; such that has nutrient sources that are not foreign so that it is easy for them to digest, and they must also get the proper amount of all the nutritional requirements.
If you have a standard breed of Manchester terriers, you should be lucky. The standard Manchester terriers have less "special needs" than the toy Manchester terriers; however, they still have special needs. One of the needs that the Manchester terriers have is that they too are best as being indoor dogs; as they are a small dog, as well. Another need that they have is that they too, need to be brushed on a daily basis. And like the toy breed, the standard also needs to have a well balanced nutritional diet; so that is can live a long and healthy life.
For both breeds of the Manchester terriers, they have many things in common with each other; especially when it comes to any kind of "special needs". In fact, almost everything about them is identical. Another very important thing that the owners of either breed must watch very carefully is health problems to the eyes or them possibly having or getting Leggs Calves Pethes; which is a disease in the head of the femur bone.
Whether the dog has only one special need or ten special needs, it should not stop anyone from wanting a Manchester terrier. In fact, their needs should not even be a consideration; it should be about how much you can love it.
