For those who own or are interested in owning a Great Dane breed, here are some weird yet interesting facts that you should know.

In training a Great Dane, one of the proper methods to do so is the correction method. Do you know that a mother dog also uses a similar correction method with pups that misbehave? What Great Dane mothers do is that they nip the neck of their pups to correct their pups' misbehaviour.

If you are not familiar with Great Danes then you might not know how big and heavy they can get. Do you know that when taking your Great Dane outdoors, it can take you out for a drag around the block instead? Great Danes that are not properly trained can end up taking you out on a walk instead of you taking your Great Dane out for a walk. What better reason for making sure training is at the top of your agenda?

Do you know who the most famous Great Dane around the world is? Well, it's none other than the cartoon character Scooby Doo. He is one of the most famous and most favourite Great Danes of all time. To follow up on that, do you know how Scooby Doo got his name? Well, Fred Silverman was listening to one of Frank Sinatra's records. In one of the records, Old Blue Eyes, there was a phrase that was repeated over and over again, "Scooby-dooby-doo!"

Another fact about the Great Dane that people may find weird is that a growing or puppy Great Dane requires or costs more in terms of maintenance, than an adult dog.

Do you know what the ancestors of the Great Danes of today were used for? Back in the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, Great Danes were used for hunting wild boar back in Germany.

Do you know which Great Dane has taken the breed from the class's recognition back in 1947 and was Best of Breed in two consecutive years (1949, 1950) as well? It was a fawn bitch Ch. Senta, owned by Nell Gilber and Bill "Pop". Aside from that, she also bagged third place under the Working Group.
