I do, I think they are really cute and unique. When I look at them I think they look like little ponies. I used to groom a Powder Puff, but if I were to choose, it would be the hairless.Even with the extra care needed. Every breed is unique in its own way, we need to see the beauty in each breed.
I'm in love with the Labrador Retriever. Personally, I also love Golden Retriever, but that may be bigger than you want. My other favorite breeds are German Shepherd Dogs and Beagles. I also am partial to Yorkshire Terriers and Dachshunds. Some of you already know that I'm a fan of the Boxer and Poodle too. Poodles are really cute and unique. They remind me of sheltland ponies for some reason. I really love all dogs though, and each breed is beautiful and wonderful.
Everyone has their opinion but the only one that matters when you are getting a puppy is yours. Do a lot of research, go to the library and get a book on different breeds and study them. Decide what you and your family needs are and check out the different breeds that fit those needs and be sure that you all can meet the needs of the puppy too. It is a two way street. Do you want a long hair or short hair? Grooming or not much grooming? Small or large? One that wants to be around people all the time or one that can be on its own sometimes? There are so many questions that you and your family needs to talk about and figure out before getting a puppy. Do you have other family members or friends with dogs, go visit and see how their dogs act. Have you owned a dog before? Remember puppies take a lot of time and patience and training! Get the whole family in on the research and make it fun! You won't regret putting all the time in now when down the road you have the perfect dog for your family for years and years of enjoyment. Good luck!
I agree and most definately advise to research the different breeds that seem interesting/apealing to you.
For example, toy poodles are my breed, I love everything about them. The size, looks, temperament, non-shedding, etc.
I wouldn't like to own a shedding big dog(no offense).
Another type of dog I am not very fond of are Maltese(no offense again) but so far I have not liked the temperament of any of them. (even though I have one right now, I love her dearly but I have to admit she is not my favorite(sorry Maltese lovers!)
When I got her I got her because of her looks but I did not research this breed beforeheand. Do not make the same mistake as me.

Hi I hope I can help you with your search. I have 3 dogs - a yellow lab, and 2 shichons (bichon and shitzu mix), but they look mostly like bichon.. they are wonderful dogs and are great with kids. They are very intelligent and loving and I haven't had any problems. There aren't many out there although there are more now then 2 years ago when we got them. My daughter went to Iowa and we live in Chicago to get them and honestly it was worth the drive. I never thought I would have 3 dogs ( I was happy with my lab), but I wouldn't have it any other way (this is coming from someone who never had pets growing up). You do need to realize that any pet needs the right conditions especially love, time and patience and if you can't honestly say you could give that then really think about whether you want a dog. Also, $$$ comes into play. I'm glad she brought home the 2 shichons (brothers) because they have each other, play, and never ruined anything when they were teething because they just played together and were never destructive. There are websites out there so do some research on shichons. They are adorable!! Good luck!
It's me again. I forgot to tell you that the shichons don't shed and there are two kinds. I have one of each (a silky haired one and a curly type) I think the silky hair is easier to groom although it's not a big deal. They do not shed and that is something to look into when you decide. By not shedding though they need to be groomed and again consider the $$. My lab sheds and you have to keep that under control although I don't have to go to a groomer. Things to consider ......
