We're so excited! Next Tuesday we're getting an adorable tiny, little chihuahua puppy. But we're not sure what to feed him. The breeder has been giving the litter eukanuba dry food, but I don't want to continue with that. We have a french bulldog, Bogart, and we feed him Wellness, fish and sweet potato dry food. I know that Bogart's food will be to big for the new puppy. So what should we switch him to?? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I would prefer that the food were all natural, no bi-product, etc. I've also heard somewhere that chi's ometimes require supplements? Please help, Thanks!

You should still get the Eukanuba food that the breeder is giving you so your puppy will feel comfortable and settle in more easily at home. As time passes by, every week you can mix in some of the new food so your puppies stomach will get use to it and not get the runs and be all stressed out.

thanx for the suggestions, does anyone have any feelings on canned vs. dry food? We give our frenchie just dry food, but I'm curious about what the chihuahua might need. I suppose any small breed, all natural puppy food will be fine. Just wondering...

Feeding Dry is better for the teeeth than it is wet.Small dogs naturally have bad teeth so they need dry food.You can mix a lil wet food in the dry but it sometimes gets them too spoiled and then thats all they want to eat.NOT a good thing.What I do is I get Milled Flaxseed and fish oil and put that on thier food.It helps with skin,coat and shedding.And they love it.I feed Wellness to one of my dogs and he LOVES it with warm water on it.The all natural foods are usually for all life sdtages so they dont sometimes make puppy or adult just all life stages.That is fine!
