My daughter got a kitten from her uncle for her b-day and she named it Simba.It is a male cat. I have never had a cat before except a wild one that was around,At what age can I get him nuetered? He is 8 weeks old now.Do cats get routine shots like dogs every year? I know they gat some but I mean like the yearly rabies for dogs(3 years actually) is there anything a cat gets yearly? Can I put a cat in a crate? At night it attacks my feet ALL NIGHT,I cant just shut it out because my doors thru the whole house have enough room under them for him to squeeze thru.Is food an important health factor in cats like it is dogs? Does it matter which cat litter I use? Do I trim its nails? I am gonna google cat/kitten care but any tips will be helpfull.

I have 6 cats so I think i can help. I would have him neutered at 6mnths old. Yes Nutrition is important in cats as well. I would take him to the vet and have him checked out. I use Johnny cat or Tidy cat litter. Have about 2 litter boxes. Please DONT let the cat outside. There are so many dangers outside for a cat. I trim my cats nails often. Start clipping his nails while he is a kitten or he want have them. If you want to bath him start that know as well.
If we ban Pit Bulls and Rottweilers are humans some dont like next ?

Not much to add to the above post, except for the food. Yes , a cats nutrition is every bit as important as a dogs. Feed stores carry the better quality foods. Getting him started on a healthy diet at a young age will make for a healthier cat.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.

Good nutrition and shots are important. The nutrition will help him have a healthy start in life. Some folks do not agree on getting shots. My cats have theirs because I am always bringing stray cats into the house. And I don't want mine getting sick. Plus you could bring something into the house on your shoes.

I was laughing at the kitten playing with your feet. I know the routine well!! They are playing cat and mouse. He is hunting!!
I recommend playing with him quite a bit before you go to bed to tire him out. Then when it is bedtime. He will play for about 10 minutes and then settle down.

Also, a little bit of food before you go to bed. He will be tired, and then with a full tummy, he should settle down nicely.

Some cats are very picky with their litterboxes. So each cat should have one. But all 3 cats here go in 1 litter box that I clean about 3 times a day.

You usually need one litter box for each cat and then a extra. Cats are very picky animals. I would try one covered and one uncovered and see what he prefers. I have both for my cats b/c I have some many they prefer differnt things.

I have eight resident kitties......and then all my fosters. That's another story.
For my eight babies. I actually use a rubbermaid under the bed storage box. (lid removed, of course!) and that is their litter box. No problems!! And what is funny, they all poop at one end, and pee at the other end. Sometimes I might have something in the middle! LOL

The rubbermaid storage bin is an interesting idea. My girl Wiggles flings litter like a wild woman in the litter box and I need something deep enough to contain it. Those rings that go around it wont work and her litter mate stormy wont go in a covered box, and I don't have room for two boxes, so I wonder if that would help.
I like most cats better than I like most people.

Well with eight kitties, I couldn't scoop quick enough, LOL
So I got the bigger box, and it is good to go all day.

I think I paid $8.00 for it or it was under $10 anyway. And if I bought several litter boxes, I would have paid more than that.

I went out of town last week and decided to try the rubbermaid container idea while I was gone. It worked so well that I decided to keep using it and leave the Littermaid put away. It's not like I'm going to use the rubbermaid container for anything else.LOL Thanks for the idea!
