I have a question. I've never owned a female dog and was wondering how long their heat lasts for. I have a mini pin and it seems like she's been in heat forever. How long does it usually last?

A heat cycle usually lasts on average for 21 days, however they can still be bred up to the 24th day. Now may be a great time to have her spayed! Enjoy your baby!

I would not recommend spaying during a heat cycle unless its for a good reason...i.e. unwanted/dangerous pregnancy.

The general rule is 1 week coming in, 1 week in, 1 week going out. Though there is no set rule, so plan on her being in heat for 4 weeks. In which time be certain to keeo her away from all intact males. They can breed later in the cycle even when she seems to be going out.
