Directions: Pour enough Petco Dog Litter with Odor Control into a clean pan to cover the bottom at least 3 inches deep. An open litter pan with a low opening will work best for training your dog. Remove all soiled pellets and solid waste from the litter pan daily. Dispose of waste properly in trash. Used litter is not recommended for garden use. Clean litter box regularly with warm water and mild detergent. If cleaned daily, the remaining litter will not need to be discarded. Once you have removed the soiled litter, simply add fresh Petco Dog Litter with Odor Control as needed to maintain a depth of at least 3 inches.Caution: Wash hands thoroughly after handling soiled litter. To preserve water quality, dispose of dog feces and litter in the trash. Do not flush in toilets or dispose of in gutters or storm drains. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool dry place.How to housetrain your puppy:Create a puppy area - Choose an area near your family's main living area where you can confine you puppy. Se the puppy's food, water, crate, bed, toys and litter pan in selected area. Place food and water approximately three feet away from pan.Schedule your puppy's day - Start by confining your puppy to a crate or kennel for the first couple of weeks prior to introducing the litter pan. Let yoru puppy out of the crate every two hours to eat, drink, play or go for a walk. Be consistant with your puppy's schedule. Keep a daily log of events: walking, eating, drinking, and potty breaks.Learn your pupp's "potty" signs - Be observant of when your puppy needs to go potty when he is out of the crate. Signs that your puppy needs to go potty: sniffing the ground, circling and area, squatting, or lifting a leg.Place your puppy 0n the litter pan - When you see the potty sign gently walk or carry the puppy over to the pan. Give a simple, consistant command such as "Go Potty."Praise your puppy - Your puppy will be more responsive to positive feedback and will learn that eliminating in the litter pan is appropriate.Expect accidents - Your puppy may have an accident. If he starts going potty outside the litter pan, give him and abrupt, firm command and then gently move him to the litter pan. Encourage your puppy to continue going potty in the litter pan. Permanently remove all trace of accidents to discourage your puppy from eliminating in the same spot.Be patient and consistent - Housetraining your puppy can take weeks, but with a consistent location, schedule and praise, you will find the process will be much quicker.Indoor training tips:Place your current elimination material (ie: training pads or newspaper) into the litter pan without any litter. Encourage your dog to use the pan.After consistent elimination in pan, add a small amount of litter.
