InstallationCaution: Disconnect the plugs of all the appliances inside the aquarium before putting your hands in the water.Undergravel Filter OperationDetermine the difference in height between the rim of the aquarium and the seated position of adapter cone in the undergravel filter riser stem (approximately four to seven inches).Cut or adjust undergravel riser stem to correct height.Seat powerhead adapter cone into the undergravel filter riser stem and rotate aquarium rim attachment knob to securely tighten the clamp to required aquarium rim width. Alternately, position suction cup bracket and slide powerhead into guides.Note: Aquariums which use very fine grade gravel or sand may require nylon mesh placed over the strainer to prevent the powerhead from clogging in normal flow positionOperationAdjust water movement switch to green position for normal flow or red position for reversed flow.Adjust flow rate to desired strength if required.Connect cord to electrical outlet.Quick Filter OperationPowerhead 50 and 70 can easily be converted to a Quick Filter to remove dirt and debris quickly. The Quick Filter can be obtained from your local pet dealer.Load (optional) Quick Filter attachment with a Quick Filter Cartridge.Remove small top adapter of Quick Filter and insert powerhead strainer plate into Quick Filter firmly.Place unit into aquarium in desired location and clamp or use suction cup bracket to keep in position.Connect the cord to the electrical outlet.Important: The powerhead must operate continuously to sustain filtering action and beneficial bacteria.
