InstructionsMake sure that you have the right lamp. The 100-watt is appropriate for medium size terrariums. All animals should be able to get a minimum of 12" away from ther lamp as well as have a "cooler" area away from the lamp (minimum 24").Open package and carefully remove lamp. Hold lamp by the base and inspect glass envelope for any possible cracks or damage. If lamp shows any signs of damage see guarantee information.Zoo Med's Powersun UV must be housed in a reptile dome clamp fixture with a ceramic or porcelain base. Screw lamp into base then attach clamp part to something secure like the top rim of terrarium, or use Zoo Med's Repti Lamp Stand. Position clamp lamp on the far right or left side of terrarium (this allows for a warm and cool area in the terrarium). Position dome part of clamp lamp aiming downward and slightly to the rear of the terrarium thus minimizing human eye contact with lamp. Do not mount the lamp horizontally.Screen top; make sure the PowerSun UV lamp and fixture are above a screen cover. This lamp get hot; don't let your animals make direct contact with lamp.Plug fixture into electrical outlet. The PowerSun UV will take 5 minutes to "warm up" and reach its full intensity. The PowerSun UV will continue to change hue until it is completely warmed up.Restarting: The PowerSun UV will take 15 minutes to cool down before being restarted. This is due to a thermal reset feature intended to prevent damage to the lamp by overheating.Safety Warning: This lamp emits UV (ultraviolet radiation) and is intended for reptile use only. Position lamp fixture so that it is directed away from human eyes. Do not stare into lamp. Do not spill/splash water on lamp. If the lamp glass envelope cracks or breaks, unplug lamp and discard (after lamp has cooled down).
